Frequently asked questions

What people ask us most before a first visit.

01Do you take my insurance?

It depends on the plan. Some employer dental plans work with us and some do not. Call with your plan name and we explain where you stand before the visit.

02What if I do not have insurance?

You get a written estimate before any treatment and you pay at the visit. If you would rather pay in parts, ask when you book.

03Do you see Medi-Cal Dental patients?

Tell us the name of your plan when you call. Before the visit we confirm whether we see it at the office you chose.

04Will it hurt?

We numb the area when needed and you tell us if you feel anything. We pause when you raise your hand. We cannot promise you will feel nothing.

05How often do I need X-rays and a cleaning?

The dentist decides based on how your teeth and gums are doing. It is different for each person.

06What is a deep cleaning?

It is a cleaning that reaches under the gum line when there is tartar and inflammation. The dentist explains why she recommends it and how many appointments it takes.

07Do you see children, and from what age?

Yes, from age three, with an adult who comes along. For younger children, we tell you who to see.

08What counts as a dental emergency?

A broken or knocked-out tooth, a bad toothache or a swollen gum. Call the office as soon as it opens. If swelling spreads to your face or neck, or you have trouble breathing or swallowing, call 911.

09What do you do if I am very afraid?

Tell us before we begin. We go slowly, explain each step and pause. If you need a different kind of care, we tell you who to see.

10Do you give me an estimate before treatment?

Yes. You can ask for a written estimate before any treatment, and we give you one in advance if you pay without insurance.

11Do you see patients in Spanish?

Yes. Dr. Negrete and the front desk at both offices speak Spanish and English. Dr. Pham sees patients in English.

12How do I cancel or change an appointment?

Call the office, reply to the text reminder or write to us from the contact page. The sooner you tell us, the easier it is to find another time.

Still have a question?

Call us or book a visit, and we answer it.
